Identity Panel automatically classifies users as employees or contingent workers based on data received from your organization’s human resources (HR) system. This process ensures consistent user identity lifecycle management and supports accurate role-based access decisions.
Classification Based on HR Attributes
The system uses two key attributes from your HR source:
-
Employee Type: Typically indicates whether the person is a full-time employee, part-time employee, contractor, intern, or another worker type.
-
Job Code: Often corresponds to the individual’s role or job classification within the organization.
These properties are evaluated through rule-based logic in Identity Panel’s data model. Depending on the values of these attributes, the user is categorized as either an employee or a contingent worker (also known as a contractor or temporary staff). This categorization influences downstream actions such as provisioning accounts, assigning entitlements, or granting access to internal resources.
Benefits of Automated Classification
This automated classification system provides several business advantages:
-
Reduces manual effort: HR does not need to maintain separate systems or tags to identify contractors vs. employees in IT systems.
-
Improves access governance: Ensures only employees get long-term internal access, while contractors have temporary or limited access aligned with policy.
-
Supports compliance: Accurate classification supports audit readiness and helps meet regulatory or security obligations.
By relying on your authoritative HR system as the source of truth, Identity Panel ensures accuracy, reduces risk, and helps streamline identity lifecycle operations.
Let Identity Panel manage the complexity behind the scenes so your teams can focus on managing users—not user data.
