When onboarding new hires, organizations often rely on access templates to grant role-appropriate permissions quickly and consistently. Access Panel supports this through a combination of Birthright Templates and additional Access Templates for common roles. However, not every position fits neatly into a predefined template.
Notification for Non-Standard Roles
Access Panel includes built-in logic to automatically notify the hiring manager if a new hire’s role does not match any access template beyond the default Birthright entitlements. This is particularly valuable for specialized or less common roles—such as custodial supervisors, research coordinators, or facilities managers—that may require custom access arrangements.
-
If no applicable access template is found (excluding the default Birthright), Access Panel generates a notification.
-
The hiring manager is alerted via email or dashboard message, prompting them to review and request any additional access needed.
-
This notification mechanism helps prevent delays and ensures that access decisions remain visible and auditable.
Why This Matters
Some roles may intentionally have no predefined access template, especially in highly customized or sensitive departments. However, the system still needs to ensure timely and secure access provisioning. By notifying the hiring manager, Access Panel supports human oversight where automation cannot fully apply, without compromising governance or accountability.
-
Supports just-in-time access requests when templates fall short
-
Enables hiring managers to initiate appropriate entitlements via Service Panel
-
Reinforces compliance by logging all access requests and approvals
