How Automated Approval Routing Works

Access Panel uses request policies and criteria policies to determine how and where to route an access request:

• Request Policies define the approval chain and conditions under which a request must be reviewed. These policies can assign requests to specific roles, departments, or individuals based on business logic and identity attributes.

• Criteria Policies filter which resources are eligible for access and under what conditions, ensuring each request aligns with entitlement rules.

When a user submits a request, the system evaluates these policies and routes it to the appropriate approver—such as a manager, data owner, or delegated reviewer—automatically. This removes the manual steps often required in traditional request handling and ensures consistency in approval logic​.
