Access Panel offers a user-friendly, self-service portal for managing temporary access to sensitive systems and data. This functionality is especially useful in organizations with dynamic access needs, such as project-based teams or contractors. Access requests can be tailored to expire automatically, helping maintain compliance and reduce security risks.
How Temporary Access Requests Work
Access Panel supports time-limited, or "Just-In-Time" (JIT), access to entitlements—specific roles, permissions, or group memberships. Users can submit a request through the Access Panel interface by completing a form that captures key details:
-
User identity and contact information
-
Entitlements requested (e.g., access to a file share, application, or administrative group)
-
Business justification for the request
-
Start and end date/time for access
These requests are governed by configurable policies that ensure only eligible users can request access, and only for approved entitlements. Once granted, access is automatically revoked when the request duration ends, ensuring clean and timely deprovisioning.
Built-In Governance and Automation
Behind the scenes, the Access Panel automates request handling using Request Policies and Just-In-Time Policies. These policies define:
-
Who can request what (based on user attributes or roles)
-
Required approvals (such as manager or compliance officer)
-
Duration limits (e.g., no more than 72 hours)
-
Automatic logging for audit and compliance reporting
Entitlements are typically managed through group memberships in directory systems like Active Directory or Microsoft Entra ID. With HyperSync Panel integration, these memberships can be provisioned and deprovisioned in near real-time.
