Identity Panel allows organizations to define and enforce access rules based on identity attributes such as Job Title, Department, Location, and Cost Center. These templates are known as “birthright access templates” because they define the default or required access a person should receive automatically based on their role in the organization. These rules are typically managed by Security Administration and configured using Access Panel’s criteria policies.
Birthright templates are applied at the moment of onboarding or role change, ensuring that users have appropriate access immediately. For example, a new hire in the Finance department at the London office with a job title of “Senior Analyst” and Cost Center “FIN100” can be automatically provisioned access to shared drives, applications, and reporting tools relevant to that profile. This minimizes delays and manual approvals, while reducing the risk of incorrect access.
How It Works in Identity Panel Suite
Access Panel, a core component of the Identity Panel Suite, evaluates identity data against configured criteria policies. These policies define include and exclude rules using attributes such as:
-
Job Title (e.g., Analyst, Manager)
-
Department (e.g., HR, IT, Finance)
-
Location (e.g., New York, London, Remote)
-
Cost Center (e.g., MKT200, FIN100)
Once these policies are defined, Access Panel continuously monitors changes in identity data and applies updates automatically. When an employee moves departments or locations, the system can remove old entitlements and assign new ones in real time, without manual intervention.
