Automatically Assigning Birthright Access with Access Panel

Access Panel enables organizations to automate access management from day one of employment. One of its most valuable capabilities is assigning “birthright access” to new hires. Birthright access refers to the default set of permissions and entitlements a user receives automatically based on their role, department, or other pre-approved criteria—no manual request or intervention needed.

How It Works

When a new employee is onboarded into the HR system or other authoritative source, Access Panel evaluates pre-configured Criteria Policies to determine their entitlements. These policies use clear rules to match users with the appropriate access based on attributes such as job title, department, or employment type.

Key capabilities include:

• Pre-approved entitlements: Define and manage standard access bundles based on roles or business units.

• Automated evaluation: Access Panel continuously monitors identity changes and applies access rules without manual input.

• Integration with identity data: Access Panel works in concert with Identity Panel and HyperSync Panel to ensure consistent, real-time data across systems.

Behind the scenes, Access Panel uses Projected Silos to structure entitlement data and synchronize it to systems such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra (Azure AD), and SaaS applications.
