The Identity Panel Suite supports temporary retention of previous role access during user transitions, ensuring operational continuity while minimizing access risk.
What Is Transition Role Retention?
When users move into new roles within an organization, it’s often necessary to maintain access to previous systems or data temporarily—for tasks such as knowledge transfer, project wrap-ups, or handovers. The Identity Panel Suite enables this by retaining access entitlements from a user’s previous role during a configurable “transition period.”
Administrators can set this period (e.g., 30 days) based on organizational policy. If more time is required, authorized users (such as managers or compliance officers) can request an extension through a built-in approval workflow, ensuring oversight and policy compliance.
How It Works
The system tracks all the relevant data needed for governance and auditing:
-
Previous Role – The user’s prior position or function
-
Previous Entitlements – Specific access rights (e.g., systems, applications, data) linked to the former role
-
Transition Expiration Date – The automatic end point for transitional access
These details are visible and manageable via Service Panel and Access Panel, allowing easy review and modification of transitional access. Expiry or extension of access follows organizational policies and is auditable.
Key Features
-
Transitional access is automatically revoked once the expiration date is reached.
-
Approved extensions adjust the expiration without erasing audit history.
-
Time Traveler and reporting tools provide historical visibility into access rights.
-
Integrates with attestation campaigns for periodic review and re-certification of access.
