How Access Panel Detects Unauthorized Entitlement Changes

Access Panel, is designed to ensure entitlement data remains accurate and compliant—even when changes occur outside of the official provisioning workflows. When an application user is granted entitlements directly within a connected system (for example, being added to a group in Active Directory or granted access in a SaaS platform without going through Access Panel), these changes are automatically detected during the next reconciliation or aggregation cycle.

This process is part of the system’s regular synchronization. During each cycle, Access Panel compares the current state of entitlements in target systems with the expected state based on the authoritative identity and access policies. Any differences—whether additions, removals, or modifications—are flagged and brought back into the system for review or automated correction, depending on your organization's policy settings.

What Is a Reconciliation or Aggregation Cycle?

A reconciliation (sometimes called aggregation) cycle is a scheduled data sync process that collects and compares identity and entitlement data from various connected systems. This allows Access Panel to:

• Detect unauthorized or out-of-process changes

• Identify compliance gaps or exceptions

• Update internal records to reflect the true state of access

These cycles can be configured to run on regular intervals (e.g., hourly, daily) or triggered manually. They are essential for maintaining data accuracy and access governance.
